It has now been 11 years since I moved to Florida, and though a lot has changed, I still love living in the Sunshine State! My reason to move here was to attend college, but the warm weather and beautiful beaches are the main reasons why I have stayed. If you are debating a move to Florida, Cait is here with a guest post today to give five reasons to consider!

Have you recently visited Florida and thought it would be amazing to live in the sunshine state? You’re not alone, for many people think this too! Though there are a few downsides of moving to Florida, there are so many incredible reasons to become a Florida resident. If you’re a Gen Zer seeking your first job out of college or a baby boomer looking for a retirement destination, come visit what our state has to offer you. Below are just a few reasons why you should relocate to our state!

Reasons to move to florida

While many other states have some incredible beaches, we have some of the top rated beaches! With over 1,350 miles of coastline that borders both the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, you can see that many are drawn to this! Many of the beaches receive top awards and accolades each year by Dr. Beach, Tripadvisor and many other popular review websites. Some of the best beaches are the panhandle peaches including Panama City Beach, Destin Beach and Pensacola Beach. You truly can’t go wrong!

Warm Weather Year Round

When you think of Florida, there is a reason why we are called the Sunshine state. The average year round temperature in South Florida is around 72 where northern Florida can get to 67. We have around 250 days of sunshine per year. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, Florida is the state for you because there are many activities for you to accomplish and check off your bucket list. For instance, if you’re into watersports, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding are a great work out! Or perhaps you want to rent a boat and explore the remote sand bars, you can do that too! Golf or Tennis more your style? There are many cities that offer this year round and courts that can accommodate at any level.

Theme and Amusement Parks

Florida is one to 8 of the top 20 amusement parks in the country as well as 20 water parks that are one of the top ones in the entire world. Of course, you’ve heard of some great amusement parks such as Walt Disney World, Adventure Island, Busch Gardens, LEGOland and Universal Studios to name a few. Many of these also offer discounts for those who are residents of Florida which adds to another perk!

No State Income Tax

One of the biggest benefits to living in Florida is the lack of state income tax. This means that you can keep more of the money you earn. The state of Florida earns dollars from the millions of tourists that visit the state each year through a 7% sales tax and a 5% tourist tax on revenues that can include hotel stays or rental properties. Once you become a resident of the state, you’ll be grateful for all the tourists that pay and love the state as much as you do.

Many people think about when they are going to retire and they are looking for a place where it is warm year round. As I mentioned before, Florida has been rated for common retirement destinations and can offer many lifestyle amenities for those looking to enjoy the state. We offer RV Parks, fishing and lots of outdoor activities to enjoy day in and day out.
